Why a dedicated circuit is common
Sauna heaters are large, sustained electrical loads. Sharing with a treadmill, refrigerator, dehumidifier, lights, or receptacles creates nuisance trips and can leave less capacity than the sauna expects. A dedicated run makes the available load predictable.
Do not size the circuit from marketing copy
Use the electrical nameplate and installation manual. Record volts, amps, watts, phase, plug type, breaker recommendation, conductor requirements, and any GFCI instruction. Traditional heater manuals may also specify a control box, contactor, disconnect, or temperature sensor location.
What to ask an electrician
Show the exact manual and proposed location. Ask whether the panel has capacity, how the cable will be routed, whether the location changes GFCI or permitting requirements, and whether the receptacle or hardwired connection remains accessible for service.
